Moritz Wagner –
March 9, 2019, vs. Boston
The Los Angeles Lakers rookie’s numbers during the 2018-19 season were pedestrian: 4.8 points, 2.0 rebounds, 0.6 assists in 10.4 minutes over 43 games. But prior to the Lakers’ matchup with the Celtics, STATS leveraged its predictive data in relation to Wagner’s recent uptick in minutes played, the Lakers’ injuries at the time, and the Celtics’ defensive tendencies and roster construction.
STATS determined Wagner’s offensive numbers had a high probability of drastically increasing from his normal season averages, setting his potential numbers against the Celtics at 13.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists. Wagner wound up in the starting lineup for the first time all season and finished with 22 points, six rebounds and three assists.
STATS’ predictive data and VQ player prop API allowed sportsbooks to account for an unusual performance from Wagner ahead of time, develop unique player props otherwise not available in the market, and accurately set probability odds.
