STATS commissioned the Northwestern University McCormick School of Engineering’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science to provide the industry’s first independent measurement study of live sports data feed services with an emphasis on speed and accuracy. STATS’ data feeds were evaluated by Northwestern with direct access before STATS and two competitors – one North America-based and one Europe-based – were compared on an indirect level via 40 associated websites. Northwestern measured various events from live NBA and Premier League games from six locations across the globe in April and May 2017.
The study provides existing and potential clients with a third-party assessment seconding STATS’ claims as an industry leader, and it gives STATS further information off of which to structure the future of data delivery. Providing clients with near-instantaneous data is the goal, and that’s what the company’s emerging solution STATS Now delivers via cloud-based processing.
