STATS’ National Fantasy Baseball Championship named fantasy sports industry’s ‘Best Live Event’ for second year running
Northbrook, IL – February 4, 2013
STATS LLC, the world’s leading sports information, content and technology provider, announced today that its high stakes fantasy baseball series, the National Fantasy Baseball Championships (NFBC) was named the fantasy sports industry’s ‘Best Live Event” for the second consecutive year by the Fantasy Sports Trade Association at its annual winter conference.
“Live events, such as the NFBC, offer fantasy sports players a unique, challenging, and rewarding alternative to traditional fantasy play. The Fantasy Sports Trade Association proudly acknowledges the NFBC as the industry's best live event of 2012. This selection, made by a vote of industry peers, recognizes the excellence NFBC has shown in the fantasy sports contest space.” said FSTA President Paul Charchian. The FSTA is the largest and oldest trade group representing the fantasy sports industry with over 140 members.
"It's a great honor to win this award for the second straight year because it shows that we are the industry leader in one of the fastest growing segments of the fantasy sports industry. The entire STATS team shares in this recognition by our industry peers and we will continue to run contests that consumers can put their trust in, knowing that every live event will be a first class event," said Greg Ambrosius, STATS General Manager of Consumer Fantasy Games. Mr. Ambrosius is an inductee of both the Fantasy Sports Trade Association and Fantasy Sports Writers Association Hall of Fames and the original founder of the NFBC.
The 2013 NFBC campaign is already underway. Online drafts started in December and will continue right up until Opening Day. The live draft events will be held over two weekends in late March when hundreds of fantasy owners compete face-to-face in New York, Las Vegas and Chicago. Fantasy owners will compete for $6,500 league prizes as well as the $100,000 grand prize during the NFBC's 10th season. Registration for the upcoming National Fantasy Baseball Championship series is available immediately at nfbc.stats.com.
